The Ninth Gate is based on The Club Dumas? By Arturo Perez Reverte? Or am I mixing authors up?
Yes Carrie, that's correct. I havent seen the movie yet because I cannot find it anywhere on video!!!

CLUB DUMAS is a wonderfully scary and suspenseful book. It was my first Arturo Perez-Reverte experience, but it most certainly wasn't my last.
The movie, however, is terrible. I had no idea the movie was based on the book until after I'd seen it. They changed so many things in the movie that it bears very little resemblance to the book whatsoever.
I highly recommend the book, but I'd say skip the movie.
The movie was just on cable here the other day, but alas, I didn't catch it.
